GENERAL CAMPGROUND QUESTIONS
What makes Rocking M Ranch different from other RV parks near Cripple Creek?
Most RV parks in the area put you in an open field with your neighbors 15 feet away. At Rocking M Ranch, most of our 30 sites are tucked back into a stand of spruce and aspens at 10,000 feet, giving each rig real privacy and a genuine in-the-woods feel with full electric and water hookups at every site. Add in hosts who come out to greet you, lead you to your site, and actually know the area, and it becomes a different kind of experience than a typical campground.
Is Rocking M Ranch an RV park or a campground?
Both. We are primarily an RV park with 30 sites featuring 50/30/20 amp electric and water hookups, full hookups at sites 25 through 30, and 11 pull-through sites built for big rigs and toy haulers. We also allow one tent per site alongside an RV for an additional charge, making it flexible for families with mixed setups. Maximum 8 guests per site.
Why do guests choose Rocking M Ranch over larger campgrounds?
Our guests consistently tell us the same things: the privacy between sites, the wooded setting, the hosts who actually show up and help, and the fact that even on a fully booked weekend it stays quiet and relaxed. Quiet hours run from 10pm to 8am and no generators are permitted on the property, which keeps the atmosphere genuinely peaceful. We are also just 10 minutes from Cripple Creek and Victor, close enough to everything but far enough to feel like you got away.
What types of campsites do you offer?
We have 30 total sites: 11 pull-through sites ideal for large rigs and toy haulers, and 19 back-in sites nestled in the trees. Sites 25 through 30 offer full hookups with sewer. All 30 sites include 50/30/20 amp electric and water hookups, a fire ring, and a picnic table. Honey wagon service is available twice a week for a fee for sites without sewer, and a dump station is on-site near the exit.
Are your campsites wooded or open?
Most of our sites are wooded, tucked into a stand of tall spruce and aspens that provide shade and privacy. A smaller number of sites near the entrance are in a more open meadow setting with mountain views and are among our pull-through options, ideal for extra-long rigs that need more maneuvering room. If you have a preference, mention it when you book and we will do our best to accommodate.
Do you offer both RV camping and tent camping?
We are primarily an RV campground. One tent is permitted per site alongside an RV for an additional charge, which works well for large families or RV owners with guests in a tent next to the rig. Maximum occupancy is 8 guests per site.
How many campsites are at Rocking M Ranch?
We have 30 total campsites, 11 pull-throughs and 19 back-in sites. Sites 25 through 30 include full sewer hookups. All sites have 50/30/20 amp electric and water. The campground is intentionally kept at a size where it stays personal and quiet rather than feeling like a large commercial operation.
Is Rocking M Ranch family friendly?
Very much so. We have a playground, a common area with a selection of lawn games, a fenced dog run, and a nature trail through the woods behind the campground perfect for an after-dinner walk with kids and pets. Sites are spacious with room for kids to move around without disturbing neighbors. Rates include 2 adults and children under 18, additional adults are $5 per day. Maximum 8 guests per site. Cripple Creek and Victor are about 10 minutes away for dining and entertainment, and hiking trails are nearby for all skill levels.
Is your campground quiet?
Consistently one of the things guests mention most in reviews. Quiet hours run from 10pm to 8am, and generators are not permitted on the property at any time. Even when we are fully booked, the combination of wooded sites, good spacing between neighbors, and a respectful guest community keeps things peaceful.
What elevation is Rocking M Ranch?
Rocking M Ranch sits at approximately 10,000 feet above sea level on the southwestern slope of Pikes Peak. If you are coming from a lower elevation, give yourself a day to adjust, you may feel the altitude more than expected, especially with physical activity. Nights are cool even in summer, with lows typically in the low to mid 50s in July and August. The thin air and cooler temperatures are part of what makes a stay here feel like a genuine mountain escape.
RV CAMPING QUESTIONS
Is Rocking M Ranch a full hookup RV park?
Sites 25 through 30 offer full hookups with sewer. All 30 sites include 50/30/20 amp electric and water hookups. For sites without sewer, honey wagon service is available twice a week for a fee, and a dump station is on-site near the campground exit for easy departure.
Do you offer pull-through RV sites?
Yes, we have 11 pull-through sites designed to handle large rigs and toy haulers without the hassle of backing in. Several are located in the meadow area near the entrance, giving you extra maneuvering room. If a pull-through is important to your setup, we recommend booking early as these fill up quickly on summer weekends.
What size RV can your campground accommodate?
Our pull-through sites and some back-in sites are extra-long and built to accommodate large Class A motorhomes, fifth wheels, and toy haulers. Previous guests have successfully stayed in rigs well over 40 feet. Our back-in wooded sites work well for a range of sizes though maneuvering room varies by site. If you have a particularly long rig or slide-out considerations, reach out before booking and we will match you to the right site. All rigs must meet RVIA codes and standards and be in good condition regarding maintenance and appearance.
Do your RV sites have 30-amp and 50-amp service?
Yes, every one of our 30 sites includes 50/30/20 amp electric service. You will not need an adapter to accommodate different rig configurations. Water hookups are included at all sites as well.
Is there a dump station?
Yes. A dump station is on-site near the campground exit, making it easy to dump on your way out without any extra maneuvering. Honey wagon service is also available twice a week for a fee for sites 1 through 24A if you prefer not to wait until departure. Self-service dumping during your stay is also available as an option.
Can big rigs stay at Rocking M Ranch?
Yes, we built our pull-through sites specifically with big rigs in mind. With 11 extra-long pull-through sites and wide access roads, we regularly host large Class A motorhomes, fifth wheels, toy haulers, and rigs with multiple slides. Our hosts are on-site to help guide you in if needed. Please note all rigs must be in good condition and meet RVIA codes and standards. The speed limit within the campground is 5 MPH.
Do you have back-in RV sites?
Yes, 19 of our 30 sites are back-in sites, most of them tucked into the trees for privacy and shade. Our hosts are always available to help you back in, and guests regularly tell us that even first-timers felt comfortable with a little guidance. If you are new to backing in or have a longer rig, just ask when you arrive and we will have someone out to assist.
Do you have water and electric hookups?
Yes, every one of our 30 sites includes water and electric hookups with 50/30/20 amp service. Sites 25 through 30 also include sewer for full hookup capability. Honey wagon service is available twice a week for a fee for all other sites, and a dump station is on-site near the exit.
Is Wi-Fi available?
Yes, we have a mesh Wi-Fi system that reaches throughout the campground including the back sites in the trees. Signal strength can vary depending on the number of users, surrounding trees, and RVs. If a strong and steady connection is essential to your stay, we recommend bringing your own cellular hotspot or booster as a backup. Please note that no generators are permitted on the property, so plan your power needs accordingly.
Is cell service available?
It depends on your carrier. Verizon customers typically have good signal throughout the campground. T-Mobile generally works as well. AT&T customers will not have cell service at the campground, this is a known coverage gap in this area. We recommend AT&T customers plan accordingly and bring a hotspot device or download anything you need before arrival. Our campground Wi-Fi is available as a supplement. The Cripple Creek Public Library in town has free Wi-Fi if you need a reliable connection for work.
BRINGING YOUR PET TO ROCKING M CAMGROUND
Is Rocking M Ranch pet friendly?
Yes, pets are a welcome part of the Rocking M Ranch experience. We have a fenced dog run where your pups can stretch their legs off leash, a nature trail through the woods behind the campground for easy walks, and spacious wooded sites with plenty of room for pets to relax alongside you. Pets must be leashed and attended at all times outside the dog run, and owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets. All pets must be current with inoculation shots.
How many dogs are allowed per campsite?
Up to 3 dogs are welcome per site. Two dogs are included with your reservation at no extra charge. A third dog is welcome for an additional fee. No aggressive animals are permitted, and excessive barking will not be tolerated out of respect for fellow campers.
Do you have a dog park?
Yes, we have a fenced dog run on the property where your dogs can run and play off leash. It is a popular spot and one of the amenities our pet-owning guests consistently mention in reviews.
Can I walk my dog around the campground?
Yes, dogs are welcome throughout the campground on a leash with their owner present at all times. We ask that you keep your dog on leash outside of the fenced dog run, clean up after them immediately, and remain considerate of neighboring campers. Please also be aware that there is mountain wildlife in the area, so staying alert on walks is always a good idea.
Are cats allowed?
Our pet policy covers dogs specifically by number, but well-behaved pets that are leashed, attended at all times, current on inoculations, and not a nuisance to fellow campers are generally welcome. If you are planning to bring a cat or another type of pet, we recommend reaching out to us directly before booking to confirm your specific situation.
Are there walking trails for pets?
Yes, there is a nature trail that winds through the woods behind the campground, perfect for a casual walk with your dog after dinner without leaving the property. For longer hikes, the surrounding area has excellent trail options including the nearby Horsethief Trail and Mueller State Park just a few minutes down the road. Dogs must remain on leash on all trails.
Can I bring multiple pets?
Yes, up to 3 dogs are permitted per site. Two are included with your reservation and a third is welcome for an additional charge. If you are traveling with pets beyond dogs, reach out to us directly before booking so we can make sure your stay is a good fit for everyone at the campground.

Is Rocking M Ranch near Pikes Peak?
Yes, Rocking M Ranch sits on the southwestern slope of Pikes Peak at 10,000 feet, putting you right in the heart of the Pikes Peak region. The Cascade/Colorado Springs side of the mountain to the Pikes Peak Highway is under an hour’s drive. You are genuinely in the shadow of one of Colorado’s most iconic landmarks, not just near it in a marketing sense.
Can I visit Pikes Peak while staying here?
Absolutely. The Pikes Peak Highway entrance is approximately 45 minutes from the campground via a scenic drive through Woodland Park and Cascade. The Cog Railway, which runs from Manitou Springs to the 14,115-foot summit, is about an hour away. Both are full-day experiences worth planning ahead, the highway typically requires a timed entry reservation in summer, so book in advance. After a day on the mountain, coming back to a wooded site at 10,000 feet feels like a natural continuation of the experience.
Is your campground in the Pikes Peak region?
Yes. Cripple Creek sits on the southwestern side of the Pikes Peak massif, and Rocking M Ranch is right in that area at 10,000 feet elevation. The entire region, Cripple Creek, Victor, Woodland Park, Divide, and Manitou Springs, falls within what locals and visitors consider the greater Pikes Peak area. Staying here puts you centrally located to see all of it without long drives from a lower-elevation base.
What scenic drives are near Rocking M Ranch?
Several excellent drives are within easy reach of the campground. The drive through Victor and Cripple Creek on CO-67 itself is stunning, winding through historic gold mining country with views in every direction. The Pikes Peak Highway is about 45 minutes away and is one of the most famous scenic drives in the country. The drive to Woodland Park through Divide on US-24 offers mountain views the whole way. Guests also regularly make the run down into the Royal Gorge area via Canon City, which is a dramatic canyon drive through some of the most striking geology in Colorado.
Can I explore the Gold Belt Scenic Byway from the campground?
Yes, Rocking M Ranch is ideally positioned for the Gold Belt Tour Scenic Byway, one of Colorado’s designated scenic byways that runs directly through this region. The byway connects Cripple Creek and Victor to Canon City through three different route options: the Phantom Canyon Road, the Shelf Road, and CO-67 through Wilkerson Pass. Phantom Canyon Road in particular is a remarkable historic route that follows an old narrow gauge railroad grade through a dramatic canyon, unpaved but passable for most vehicles in good conditions. Your hosts can point you toward the best starting point and give you current road condition guidance before you head out.
